Is it called WKWSCI Showcase or outsight?
Officially, the exhibition space is called the WKWSCI Showcase. However, we really like the name we came up for it in our original proposal so we decided to keep it as a nickname and maybe, hopefully, one day, people remember it as outsight.
Why outsight?
It is a play on the word “outside”. The point of the exhibition space is to take the students and their works out of the confines of comfort either by exhibiting or viewing works at the space. Regardless one is a viewer or exhibitor, the students are “outside” of their space. Sight simply emphasises the visual nature of the works.
Besides, it’s fun:
- I need to go outsight.
- What is outsight?
- I should display my works outsight.
What are the plans for outsight beyond this semester?
In the future, outsight will be shared by the faculty and the students. Working on having an exhibit every two weeks, we plan to have seven exhibitions every semester. Three of the exhibitions will be allocated to the faculty for display of works from classes such as Photojournalism, Graphic Communication, etc. Four of the sessions will be allocated for personal submissions. So keep sending in your applications throughout the semester and we might schedule you for future exhibitions.
